Oh my gosh... I LOVE this new fruit salad you guys. I generally don't like fruit salad and was very hesitant to even try this recipe but I couldn't help it. It looked so good when I saw it last night and I just happened to have everything I needed in the kitchen so I thought what the heck. I was however having a hard time getting past the thought of putting marshmallows in my fruit salad. I mean, that just doesn't sound right to me. I'm weird like that. A recipe has to make sense in my mind before I can try it so I wasn't sure I was going to do this one.
What changed my mind is that this recipe (Grandma's Creamy 5 Cup Fruit Salad) was made by Camille over at Six Sisters Stuff. If you're not familiar with theirblog yet you really should check it out. Every single recipe that I've tried from their site I have LOVED (like I'm not going to share because it is that good kind of loved). Heroriginal recipe has some variations that you might want to try so I've included the link so you can hop on over there and see what different kinds of things she suggests putting in your salad to make it even more amazing!
I've already decided that the next time I go to a barbecue and have to bring a dish I am totally bringing this! I can already see the compliments happening (and I really love compliments, hint-hint).

I only have 2 suggestions when you make this. First, drain your canned fruit like there's no tomorrow. Let it sit in a colander in a large bowl covered with saran wrap overnight so that your fruit salad won't be soggy and watery when you make it. This is a little tip that I learned from my mother -- thanks mom!
Second, have someone else home when you make this. Don't laugh. I'm serious. A child, your spouse, roommate -- anyone. If you don't you will be tempted to eat the whole bowl. I may or may not be speaking from experience and my stomach may or may not be hurting right now because I ate too much 😉

I think the idea of marshmallows sounds like something I'm not sure I'd like, too but I still want to try this. I know my kids would love it since they love anything with marshmallows! Pinning this!
